Miami-Dade County Public Schools saw an urgent need to develop an urban school policy which would involve all segments of the community in its school system. Dade Partners was designed to facilitate the involvement of the private and public sectors with the school system and through this involvement lead to a better understanding of the needs of both the educational system and the community.

On October 10, 1978, more than 100 community leaders representing all the facets of business and industry attended a breakfast sponsored by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the South Florida Coordinating Council. Superintendent Johnny L. Jones with the school system in educating our young people.

Since its inception, Dade Partners has grown to more than 2,500 entities who have formed over 3,000 partnerships between their organization and our schools. Together these partners continue to share their expertise and provide our schools a multitude of resources.
