Miami-Dade
County Public Schools saw an urgent need to develop an urban
school policy which would involve all segments of the community
in its school system. Dade Partners was designed to facilitate
the involvement of the private and public sectors with the
school system and through this involvement lead to a better
understanding of the needs of both the educational system
and the community.
On October 10, 1978, more than 100 community leaders representing
all the facets of business and industry attended a breakfast
sponsored by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the
South Florida Coordinating Council. Superintendent Johnny
L. Jones with the school system in educating our young people.
Since
its inception, Dade Partners has grown to more than 2,500
entities who have formed over 3,000 partnerships between
their organization and our schools. Together these partners
continue to share their expertise and provide our schools
a multitude of resources.
