New
Teacher Orientation
Every year Miami-Dade
County Public Schools honors its new teachers with a luncheon
as part of a three-day orientation for the teachers. Corporate
sponsorship levels are offered for luncheon table sponsors
as well as an opportunity to display at the Vendor Fair.
From these sponsors the new teachers learn about all aspects
of this community such as its culture, sports, and entertainment
as well as housing and financial planning.
AFSCME Employee
of the Year
This event honors
the outstanding contributions of all support employees working
in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The program accepts
nomination from all locations in the county and, through
an ad hoc committee, selects the top five finalists. The
winner and runner-up are announced during this ceremony,
and honored along with the other finalists.
Principal
For A Day
This day is designed to allow Chief Executive Officers (CEOs)
and top-level managers to learn what it is like to “run”
a public school. By involving these community leaders in
our schools, they become empowered with knowledge of how
they can be a catalyst for improving students’ education.
United Way Student Awards
Ceremony
This ceremony
acknowledges the incredible effort of the students of Miami-Dade
County Public Schools. All schools that have met or exceeded
their campaign goal are invited to celebrate and received
plaques and trophies for achieving levels of giving. Our
students are the number one contributors to United Way in
the nation.
Francisco
R. Walker Miami-Dade County
Teacher of the Year Recognition Ceremony
This ceremony
recognizes teachers and teaching excellence. The annual
District Teacher of the Year program is a national project,
which brings deserved recognition to the teaching profession
and serves to highlight the positive aspects of education.
The Teacher of the Year program does not attempt to single
out any individual teacher as the best teacher but to honor
one teacher who is representative of all the excellent teachers
working in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. From among
the many outstanding teachers serving in the school system’s
instructional staff, seven will be selected initially, one
representing each of the six ACCESS Centers (1-6), and one
representing the Office of Adult/Vocational/Alternative
and Community Education. One of these seven will be selected
as Miami-Dade County’s Francisco R. Walker District
Teacher of the Year.
United
Way Employee Awards Ceremony
Our employees
contribute approximately $200,000,000 each year to the United
Way of Miami-Dade. The ceremony is a celebration of unconditional
giving. Work locations that have achieved or surpassed 100%
of their goal are invited to receive awards for caring about
what matters most in our community, its neediest citizens.
Principal/Assistant
Principal of the Year
In this event
we honor “The Finest”- the administrative leaders
of our schools—principals and assistant principals.
The annual Principal/Assistant Principal of the Year recognition
programs were established to recognize exemplary principals
and assistant principals who have made a significant impact,
not only within their schools, but within their entire community
as well. Both Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year
programs strive to recognize these administrative leaders’
steadfast efforts and achievements.
Dade
Partners Exemplary Awards
The Exemplary
Awards recognizes those businesses, organizations, and individuals,
which have made outstanding contributions to Miami-Dade
County Public Schools through the Dade Partners program.
A panel of school system officials, businesses, and community
leaders selects the exemplary Dade Partners and honorable
mention winners from 9 categories. Nominations are submitted
either by individual schools or Access Centers (the six
administrative divisions of Miami-Dade’s public schools)
or by the partners themselves.
Office
Employee/Paraprofessional of the Year Ceremony
In compliance
with the negotiated contract between The School Board of
Miami-Dade County, Florida, and United Teachers of Dade,
an Office Employee of the Year Force is established to select
the M-DCPS/UTD Office Employee of the Year. The program
honors our office employees, and paraprofessionals, and
school support personnel. All district finalists will be
recognized and the names of the runner-up and Office Employee
of the Year will be announced.
Outstanding
School Volunteer Recognition Ceremony
Our Exemplary
School Volunteers as well as the Gold and Silver School
Award recipients are honored in this ceremony. The Outstanding
School Volunteer Award is presented annually to school volunteers
who have shown outstanding commitment and invaluable support
to quality education in Miami-Dade County. Volunteers are
selected based on the number of hours of service, years
and unusual type of service, and most importantly, on the
quality and impact of service contributed.
Community Blood Centers of South Florida
and South Florida Blood Banks Ceremony
Celebrate with
our students and staff our life saving blood program. At
this ceremony work locations are awarded plaques and trophies
for the amount of pints collected, percentage of participation,
most improved location, and most dedicated student and faculty
coordinator. Scholarship monies are awarded to CAP, Inc.
and serve as a wonderful venue to assist our student body
with college expenses. Students and staff have earned the
title of the number one donors in the state of Florida.
Our participation has supported a program that means so
much to so many, and has helped save countless of lives.
