Emphasis: academic, social, economic necessity of community education

  • Speaker’s bureau
  • Publication of quarterly newsletter entitled, “The Communicator”
  • Inception of website
  • First Bi-Annual Poster Contest
  • Participation in the Dade Day's Delegation in Tallahasee
  • Initiated discussions with Deans of higher education to infuse community education into existing education curriculum.
  • Participating sponsor in various neighborhood, cultural, and district initiatives (i.e. th eMayor's Mentoring Initiative, Florida Learn and Serve, the African-American Caribbean Festival, Dr. Perez's Holiday Book Drive and Give-Away, the Jose Marti Festival, the Career and Magnet Expo and the Parent Involvement Fairs.)

Annual Awards

  • School House Awards, recognizing excellence in community education
  • Pacesetter Awards, honoring national and local leaders for educational advocacy
    and pioneering legislation
  • Distinguished service, recognizing lengthy commitment to community educators.

    Scholarships
