BellSouth
Inducted 1994“Motivation”, “challenge” and “opportunity” are key words when describing BellSouth’s partnership with schools throughout the county. There is a special emphasis on programs designed to help students stay in school. BellSouth provides incentive awards which recognize student improvement in academics, attendance and behavior; even going an extra step by providing uniforms and school supplies for needy students so that they have no barriers to coming to school. At one elementary school, they helped create an Ecosystem learning laboratory where students learn by interacting with plants and animals. At the high school level, BellSouth created the “Most Outstanding Service Award” to encourage community involvement. This award is presented to the school organization or club which has done the most to help the community. Finally, BellSouth employees are always visiting schools and classrooms to share their expertise during “truck days” and “career days.”
