Inducted 1995The Dade Public Education Fund approached Citicorp Foundation to support a new program called “FamilyTech”. Through FamilyTech, low-income families are given their own home computers and the training to use them. The Ed Fund asked Citicorp Foundation to provide a leadership grant to turn this program into a major, large-scale effort. The Foundation responded favorably by pledging $300,000 for two years to create Citibank FamilyTech. By the end of 1998, the Foundation’s leadership grant has leveraged more than $1.4 million in funding and computer donations. The Citibank FamilyTech program has already made a difference in the lives of more than 1,000 families at 10 public schools across Miami-Dade County.
