Elaine Adler / Aventura Marketing Council

It’s not even 9:00 a.m. and Elaine Adler, President of the Aventura Marketing Council (AMC), has already met with the Education Committee and its seven Dade Partner Schools to plan yet another program for at-risk students. Every month, over 200 students participate in “Student Connection.” In this program, students have an opportunity to develop their social, personal, and employability skills through visits to Katherine Fernandez Rundle, State Attorney; “WORLDLINK” 2001 at Nova Southeastern University; Judge Sheldon Schwartz’s courtroom and Willard Shepard of NBC/Channel 6.

These “connections” allow encourage students to explore other avenues besides dropping out of school. Those who know and admire Elaine Adler describe her as a leader with boundless energy who knows how to get thing done. She involves students in all aspects of the community; assisting the schools in securing guest speakers for Career Days, school functions, and district events.

Last year, the Aventura Teen Council was formed so students may learn about city government and serve as an advisory group to the Aventura City Commissioners. Every month, the Aventura Marketing Council sponsors a page in the Aventura News so that its seven Dade Partner Schools can showcase their best practices and students’ achievements.
