Nominated by Ethel Koger Beckham Elementary SchoolReading, mathematics, character education and technology are four areas Beckham Elementary wanted Dade Partners support. Wachovia answered the call to provide the school with essential activities to provide students with an enriched learning experience. Over two hundred students have opened savings accounts through the Beckham Bank which employs fifth grade students who gain a thorough understanding of the financial field. A donation of thirty computers by Wachovia allows all students in the school to access educational software and the internet. Employees also volunteer hours to chaperone field trips; adopt needy families at the holidays; and read books donated by the bank to students and community members. A partnership consists of equal concern and attention. No matter when the school calls, Wachovia answers. Their contribution of time, talents, and computers has enriched the school’s curriculum and the students’ lives.
