NationsBank (formerly Barnett Bank)
Inducted 1997
NationsBank developed a curriculum enhancement
program called “How To Do Your Banking” in which
employees from the bank visit eighth-grade classrooms on
a weekly basis. They also sponsor a Mentor Day in which
at-risk middle school students are paired with NationsBank
employees. Students spend their day with their mentor “on
the job”, tour the bank facilities to learn about
careers, and are treated to a business lunch. Upon hearing
that many students at their partner school did not have
calculators, which were permitted in the EXPLORE career
awareness test, NationsBank came to the rescue. Within three
days, 415 calculators were delivered with the inscription
“NationsBank Supports the Students at Charles R. Drew
Middle School”.
