Over the past three years, Fit Kids has immersed itself in supporting several schools throughout Miami-Dade County. From sponsoring health fairs to involvement in reading programs, their active participation is evident. Their mission is to educate, motivate and guide children to establish a solid foundation of healthful and productive lifestyle habits.

As students learn about nutrition and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, they feel better and are making better grades. Participation in Open House and PTA functions has served to provide parents with better understanding of health, wellness and safety issues for their children and families. In addition to serving as a business representative on the Educational Excellence School Advisory Committee, Ms. Rhonda Smith, co-founder and director, has recruited additional Dade Partners to assist schools in numerous ways. At the middle school level, Fit Kids conducts site visits to expose students to the various career choices in the fields of wellness, fitness and nutrition, and employs students as “Junior Counselors” in their summer, winter and after-school programs. Students improve self-reliance, increase career awareness, learn teamwork and enhance their leadership skills.
