Inducted 2004Through a comprehensive, sustainable and long-term plan, Washington Mutual continues to address a variety of school district and student needs. Not only has Washington Mutual started a banking program in schools, in 2003 it implemented a New Teacher Mentor Program to address the challenges of teacher recruitment and retention that many states, including Florida, will continue to face. In partnership with the Education Fund they partnered new teachers with recently retired, top quality teachers who offered on-site mentoring and weekly support. Washington Mutual has impacted Miami-Dade County Public Schools in a comprehensive and far-reaching way. Their programs affect teachers, students and parents.
